DAvid Stopher

After crashing out on the bike leg of the Age Group Long Course Worlds in Motala Sweden, 2015, David thought that was it for the season, however 3 months later the discovery of a brain tumour completed the curtain crashing down on his racing career before it really got going.

With the only viable cancer treatment finished in April this year, an ensuing medical enforced retirement meant there was no time to ponder “what ifs” and David is now focused on confounding the medics and racing again at Age Group level (55-59) from 2018 onwards preferably long course Triathlon if allowed to swim, if not then Duathlon.

10:38 at Outlaw in 2012  and a 4:53 at Outlaw half in 2014 self coached, David is convinced his fastest times are still to come and is easing into the 2017 race calendar with debuts at Thorpe Half Marathon, Brighton Marathon and middle and long distance races to be selected for the summer & autumn. I’m thrilled that Coach Hywel agreed to take me on and 3 months in I am really excited about the season ahead as he’s clearly adding value from experience learned and earned.
